Ric Scales is a class act. He steps on stage with energy and delivery that reminds those that hip-hop has strong values.  With freestyle capabilities on lock, he has the ability to rhyme for days and stay battle ready.  Ric has lived in five major states through out his young life and incorporated his various homes into his life and flow.  With valuable years spent in New Orleans, North Carolina, California, and even Hawaii.  It’s a far cry from his upbringing in central Missouri but those new places that became home served as learning grounds for young Ric since leaving his birth state at the age of twelve.

At the age of fourteen Ric Scales turned his loved for music into a love for rhyming.  Hip-hip became his forte and he would search through various catalogs to find the types of music that interested him most.  Not long after he would stumble upon acts like Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, and many more.  Helping sculpt his style to the tradition golden era of hip-hop.  And pushed him away from the monotony of mainstream music.  California serving as his residence for the past seven years he and his team continue to bring the raw elements to the fore front.  With an appreciation for b-boys, graff art, turntablism, and of course MC’s you are always insured a heavy dose of the truth.  Ric Scales in currently in the studio recording his debut album Hoodies & Headphones which will be released one of these days.  He also has a  joint album with Blest Brando that is currently in the mastering process and hopefully will assist their Empty Pockets.
